12 Best Performances In 2017 Films (So Far)

8. Keanu Reeves – John Wick: Chapter 2

John Wick 2
Summit Entertainment

Let’s be honest: Keanu Reeves isn’t exactly the greatest actor of his time, but when the right role comes along – whether as a stoner-slacker in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure or as chosen one Neo in The Matrix – he can be brilliantly entertaining. As long as he stays away from a British accent.

One of his better roles is definitely beleaguered hitman John Wick first which he first played with aplomb in 2014 and made a welcome return to this year with the appropriately, if not very imaginatively titled, John Wick: Chapter 2.

He’s back on form with Mr. Wick’s signature cool, stoic detachment as the hitman is called out of retirement once again delivering lines with dry, knowing humour and – it should be noted – doing the bulk of his own stunts whilst looking fantastic and impressively lithe for a 52-year-old.

A brilliant performance in the best action film we’ve seen so far this year and one that has us waiting with bated breath for a John Wick: Chapter 3.
