12 Biggest Box Office Flops Of 2017 (So Far)

8. Collide

Ghost In The Shell
Open Road Films

Originally set for release in October 2015, Collide was put on the back burner for a good year or so after its production company Relativity Media declared bankruptcy before finally being released this February by Open Road Films. In hindsight, the back burner is probably where it should’ve stayed.

Starring British actors Nicholas Hoult and Felicity Jones sporting American accents as two young Yanks slumming it in Germany, director Eran Creevy’s crime thriller-cum-love story of drugs, kidney failure and autobahn car chases failed to make an impact even with the addition of acting powerhouses Ben Kingsley and Anthony Hopkins in its supporting cast with its $4.8 million profit barely making a dent in its $21.5 million budget.

Opening in American cinemas the same weekend as fellow flop Rock Dog, Collide too found itself eclipsed by Jordan Peele’s surprise hit horror Get Out and for good reason – Get Out is brilliant, Collide is not.

Helen Jones hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
