12 Comic Book Film Adaptations Stuck In Development Hell
7. Chew
The culinary adventures of Cibopathic FDA Agent John Chu were first announced as a being adapted by Walking Dead production company: Circle of Confusion way back in 2010. Later in 2011 it was announced that Chew would be developed as a half-hour comedy series to be shown on Showtime. After that very little was heard about Chew, until creator John Layman confirmed via Facebook in February 2013, that the Showtime Chew series was no longer going forward. At the time this announcement came as something of a surprise, as Layman and co-creator Rob Guillory had intimated as little as a month earlier that the progress on the project was going well. Whether Showtime eventually balked at some of the comic's stomach churning subject matter is open to debate, but there has been no word as of yet whether Chew has been picked up by any other network, or whether or not a different, perhaps cinematic approach will be sought.
As well as the odd article, I apply my "special mind" to scriptwriting for Comics, Films and Games... Oh and I cut down trees, I skip and jump, I like to press wild flow'rs, I put on women's clothing, and hang around in bars.
