12 Dumb Decisions In Harry Potter Movies We Can't Forgive
1. Ruining Ronald
Look, Rupert Grint’s Ron is a great comic performance
and whilst we may not see as much of the semi-retired star nowadays he had some
evident acting chops as seen in the character’s occasional heavier moments (good
luck not tearing up at the reminder of Ron’s poor family being unable to afford
non hand-me-down pyjamas that fit the gangly teen).
But somewhere between the books and the films, Ron’s uncompromising sense of right and its attendant loyalty—the essence of his character—was handed to Hermoine, leaving the grumpy teenager with little to do but brood and yell at his own mates about why we should all give up.
We get it—Hermoine is a bit of a know-it-all and can be hard character to like. But in transferring many of Ron’s best moments to her character, the films remove the need for the trio’s third member, resulting in a series where Ron is an impediment as much as an asset for the heroes.
