12 Great Moments In Mediocre Comic Book Movies
1. Quicksilver Saves Everyone In X-Men: Apocalypse
After The Last Stand, Fox could have easily given up on the X-Men franchise. The third installment couldn't have fallen much shorter of the previous two movies, and there had to be questions of whether they could sustain a fan base moving forward. However, this is where the franchise's soft reboot came along.
This was exactly what the X-Men needed, allowing it to completely change direction while remaining somewhat familiar to audiences. First Class and Days of Future Past are two of the finest X-Men movies out there, but unfortunately, this trend didn't continue to Apocalypse.
The movie was tame and almost boring, completely underselling an incredible villain and story line that should have been a huge success. There was however, one silver lining, and that is that we got to see more of Evan Peters' Quicksilver. Easily superior to Aaron Taylor-Johnson's MCU iteration of the character, Quicksilver was easily the greatest part of Apocalypse.
After turning up at Xavier's school just as it exploded, the character used his power to save everyone there, throwing them out windows, fixing students' hair along the way, and rescuing an adorable pizza stealing dog. His Days of Future Past scene in the Pentagon was nothing short of incredible, but here Fox doubled down and somehow managed to make it even better.
