12 Hidden Horror Movie Gems Of The Last Decade
1. Train To Busan
The horror market is saturated with zombie movies, so much so that this sub-genre has accrued itself a group of sub-genres of its own. From zombie comedies like Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead, to zombie romances like Warm Bodies. Train to Busan however, sets itself apart from the rest.
The 2016 South Korean horror movie follows the titular train on its journey to Busan, when a victim of the zombie outbreak jumps on at the last minute. Of course, this sparks a chaotic outbreak that sees more and more commuters and travelers become infected, as the protagonists find themselves increasingly outnumbered.
The movie more than earns its 93% critic score and 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The terror and tension is amplified by the claustrophobia of being boxed into a train, building to an inevitable climax with there only being so far the passengers are able to run.
The actual zombie attacks themselves aren't as gorey as they could have been. Instead the movie focuses more on the chase, the characters looking to escape the madness, and the harsh, lesser evil kind of choices the potential victims are forced to make in such a situation.
