8. What Happened To The Real Percival Graves? - Fantastic Beasts

In light of the revelations in the second Fantastic Beasts movie, it's easy to forget that there were some pretty serious questions raised at the end of the first one. For instance, how could he obliviate "cleanse" from Frank The Thunderbird have worked on people inside? How could Jacob have shaken the effects of it off? How wasn't Credence killed?

More confusing than any of those, though, was the question of the real Percival Graves. When it's revealed that Grindelwald has been masquerading as Graves, the nature of the deception means he HAS to have been a real person in order to rise up the ranks of the MACUSA to become head of magical security. That's not something you can just enchant.

So, who was Graves really and where is he now? Did Grindelwald bodysnatch a follower of kill off someone who was legitimately a good guy? And why did nobody look for him after the disguise was discovered? The story seems to have moved on now to the point that Graves is a spent element, but it would have been nice to have an answer.
