12 Huge Movies That Captain Marvel Destroyed At The Box Office

5. Almost All Of The Harry Potter Films

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

Box Office: $975.1 million (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone), $960.4 million (Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows – Part 1), $940 million (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), $934.5 million (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), $897.1 million (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), $879.2 million (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), $814 million (Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them), $796.9 million (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), $653.7 million (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald)

The Harry Potter film franchise revolutionised the Young Adult genre and has brought in more money than any book-to-film adaptations in history, with the vast majority of its films grossing just shy of $1 billion. It was only the final installment that actually managed to cross that line.

While the franchise's decade of dominance is undoubtedly an impressive feat, you know what's even more impressive? The fact that Captain Marvel has now surpassed all but one of these Wizarding World adventures.

Of course, the film's performance in China undoubtedly helped it out here because the Harry Potter saga never achieved the same groundbreaking success over there.

At this stage, she won't beat Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Part 2's whopping $1.341 billion, but there aren't many who can say that they've taken down almost everything that Harry Potter had to offer. The level of success that Captain Marvel has achieved is 'riddikulus', really.
