12 Huge Questions For The Future Of The MCU
8. What Will Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Be About?
After Avengers: Endgame, we now have a definitive answer to one of Infinity War’s biggest question marks: Gamora really is dead. At least, the Gamora we know from the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies and Infinity War.
The Gamora we see in Endgame is from 2014; she never met the Guardians and has no memories of their adventures. This isn’t the Gamora Peter Quill fell in love with; that Gamora is gone, and she’s not coming back.
So, presumably, the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be about trying to find the 2014 Gamora and trying to bring her back to the team. That plot would have much emotional weight, but will that be the main plot of Vol. 3? Or will there be something more to the story?
Answer: There will have to be a little more to the plot, especially since Thor is (apparently) joining the ride (again, if Thor isn't in Guardians 3 we riot) but the search for Gamora will certainly be the focus. That’s probably what James Gunn had planned from the beginning, and that’s not changing now that he’s been reinstated as director.
