Batman Begins saw the Batmobile significantly re-modeled from previous cinematic iterations: gone was the sleek Chevrolet models of the previous movies, instead replaced with a gigantic, tank-like machine featuring gigantic wheels and an impressive array of armaments. Also, it's never once referred to as the Batmobile throughout the three movies, instead known as "the Tumbler." The design hearkens back to The Dark Knight Returns comic, which is an even more gargantuan version of the one seen in the Dark Knight trilogy: its wheels are actually tank treads and it would reportedly take up two lanes on the highway. Nolan may have toned it down slightly for the sake of practicality, but it's still one of the best creative decisions he made for his interpretation of Batman. Sure, it looked weird at first, but when you saw it in action, those concerns evaporated almost immediately.
