12 Most Anxiety-Inducing Sci-Fi Movies EVER

1. A Clockwork Orange

Clockwork Orange
Warner Bros.

A cinematic experience uniquely devoid of empathy, Stanley Kubrick's often challenged and long banned A Clockwork Orange is a film so anxiety inducing it makes Uncut Gems look like an ad for warm milk and sleeping pills.

Following the ultra violent sadism of Malcolm McDowell's soulless monster Alex DeLarge throughout its opening half, Kubrick's film revels in the casual brutality of his everyday existence through countless almost unwatchable-y harsh, disturbing sequences.

Don't worry though, unlike the source novel, there's no religious redemption on the way.

No, instead the audience sees DeLarge pay a horrific, mind-shattering penance for his crimes, leaving him an unrecognisable husk incapable of independent thought.

Great to have a happy ending after that endurance test.
