12 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming
6. The Expendables 4
The Expendables 4 has been through more bumps than nearly any film on this list.
The sequel was planned back in 2014, but Sylvester Stallone left the project due to creative differences with the studios. Stallone was eventually talked back into returning to the film in 2018, and with the script finished the following year, production was meant to kick off in 2020 before being delayed by the pandemic.
The film will reportedly be the last in the main franchise, following the crew (including returning cast members Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Arnold Schwarzenegger) on one final mission. If that wasn't enough, a spin-off hilariously titled The Expendables: A Christmas Story will come out before the next major instalment, focusing on Statham's character Lee Christmas.
The Expendables franchise has been a fun and wonderfully care-free series so far, and with Stallone wanting to give the series one last hoorah before throwing in the towel, you can rest assured it's going be just as insane as its predecessors. It's slated for a 2022 release at the time of writing.
