12 Movies In 2018 That Were Unfairly Hated

1. White Boy Rick

In fairness, someone has to actually see your movie before it can be hated, let alone unfairly hated.

But in all seriousness, this true crime story was hyped to hell and back before it hit cinemas, with Sony boasting of its high test screening scores and generally implying that they had a potential awards big-hitter on their hands.

As it turned out, White Boy Rick was no Oscar contender, but despite failing to make much of a splash with critics, it was nevertheless a rock solid crime thriller topped by fine work from Matthew McConaughey, Richie Merritt and Bel Powley.

With a stranger-than-fiction story at its core, White Boy Rick is an uncommonly perceptive look at America's failed War on Drugs, yet sadly one that fell upon deaf ears with critics and audiences alike.
