Dexter Fletcher's 2019 biopic movie revolving around the life of Elton John was an absolute smash hit. It was fun while balancing on the line of heartbreaking, and featured Taron Egerton in a performance that saw him named best actor in a musical or comedy at the Golden Globes.

It is strange for a movie with such positive reviews to feature on a list of hated movies, but a high score on the Tomatometer doesn't always mean universal love.

While the Rise of Skywalker was censored in the Middle East thanks to a same sex kiss, so was Rocketman in Russia. Elton John is one of the strongest LGBTQ advocates you could ever wish to find, and in a story about the man's life there was always going to be some element of his sexuality.

Yet, reportedly every scene containing any homosexual act was cut from the movie in Russia, totaling roughly five minutes of screen time. The singer took to Twitter at the time, labeling the act 'a sad reflection of the divided world we still live in and how it can still be so cruelly unaccepting of the love between two people.' A incredibly well point put across beautifully.
