12 Movies In 2019 That Were Unfairly Hated

In 2017, with his directoral debut Get Out, Jordan Peele announced himself as one of the best new directors in the industry. The movie won Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards, and was nominated for Best Picture while Peele himself was nominated for Best Director.

Needless to say that after a debut outing like this, expectations for his next project would be through the roof. Two years later came Us, another great outing with a compelling story, strong performances from an outstanding cast (Lupita Nyong'o in particular, who really should have been nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars), and genuine tension from start to finish.

While the Dirt saw its audience score it far higher than its critics on Rotten Tomatoes, Us was the opposite. A score of 93% on the Tomatometer was balanced out by a low, almost disrespectful 59% from audiences.

So many of these reviews in one way or another come to the point that Us isn't as good as Get Out. While that may be true, it doesn't stop Peele's sophomore project from being a genuinely strong horror movie in its own right, even if it's not quite as good as Peele's Oscar nominated previous work.
