Budget: $4 million (approx)

Box Office: $16.4 million

Though writer-director Leigh Whannell has publicly stated that his well-reviewed sci-fi horror film likely didn't perform well enough with audiences to get the sequel its cult of fans is clamouring for, it's still miles away from being a commercial failure.

Blumhouse was clearly hoping this would be another easy hit for their ultra-successful low-budget, high-yield business model and land anywhere in the $50-100 million range, but its 4.1x multiplier is sadly pretty low for their standards.

Compared to Blumhouse's other major horror releases in 2018 - Insidious: The Last Key (16.7x), Truth or Dare (27x), The First Purge (10.4x), Unfriended: Dark Web (11.2x) and Halloween (20.2x approx) - this just didn't measure up, even if it objectively wasn't a dud.
