12 Reasons The Star Wars Sequels Aren't As Bad As You Think

10. The Performances Are Mostly Great

Another fairly undeniable strength of this trilogy is the acting. With the exception of Andy Serkis' uncharacteristically forgettable performance as Supreme Leader Snoke (who was, in fairness, a crap villain), the many actors involved gave strong performances.

Adam Driver is the easy standout and his fantastic performance as Kylo Ren is the best performance the franchise has ever seen, but the rest of the cast was very strong as well.

Returning leads Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams (despite his unfortunately short appearance in Rise of Skywalker) were great and Ian McDiamird was superb as Palpatine.

As for the new cast members, Daisy Ridley was wonderful as Rey and although their characters were plagued with some dodgy writing in Episodes VIII and IX, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac were both very good as Finn and Poe respectively.

Laura Dern had an excellent supporting part in Last Jedi and even though their characters were under-used and/or ineffective, Lupita N'yongo (Maz Kanata), Benicio del Toro (DJ), Keri Russell (Zorii Bliss), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose) and Naomie Ackie (Jannah) all did good work too.

In general, this was a well-acted trilogy and thankfully a far cry from the embarrassingly bad acting from most of the actors in the Prequels.
