12 Saturn Award-Winning Performances Of The 2010s That Should've Been Oscar-Nominated

4. Patrick Stewart - Logan

Across a storied career that has brought him success on the stage and the screen, the Yorkshireman has remarkably never been cited once for the Academy Awards - and like the late Alan Rickman before him, found himself arguably snubbed for one of his most emotionally raw performances due to its genre persuasions.

His farewell turn as Charles Xavier, the former Professor X, in Logan was a masterful performance of raw, understated feeling and unexpected strength, playing on the accumulated emotion built up over nearly two decades in the role and unleashed in this delicate, desperately effecting swansong.

Stewart picked up a raft of key nominations, including one at the Critics Choice Awards - but come Oscar day, only the film's screenplay made the cut (which was still a remarkable achievemnt for the genre).

Something of a culture vulture, Mr Steel can historically be found in three places; the local cinema, the local stadium or the local chip shop. He is an avowed fan of franchise films, amateur cricket and power-chords.
