12 Saturn Award-Winning Performances Of The 2010s That Should've Been Oscar-Nominated
3. Anne Hathaway - The Dark Knight Rises
The Brooklyn-born actress sits in an unusual position with her victorious Saturn Award turn in that she emerged from the very same awards season with an Academy Award to her name, for the same category of Supporting Actress no less, for her performance in the musical adaptation Les Misérables.
It remains something of a baffling head-scratcher for genre fans ever since. The Dark Knight Rises was shut out of the Oscars entirely, despite picking up broadly similar notices to its predecessor, whose original exclusion from the Best Picture race forced the Academy to redraft their rules in the first place.
The most egregious snub of the bunch is Hathaway herself - her turn, following in the footsteps of Heath Ledger with a magnetic supporting performance both defiant and devilish, is a class above the weepy broken emotionalism she sticks to near-exclusively in Les Mis.
