7. Dimitrios' Death Is Surprisingly Savage

Casino Royale Daniel Craig
MGM

A good chunk of the first act is devoted to a subplot where Bond tracks down corrupt Greek official Alex Dimitrios (Simon Abkarian), leading to a ferocious yet subdued showdown at a Body Worlds exhibit.

Dimitrios gets the drop on Bond at first, holding him at knife-point, before Bond manages to wrestle free and get his own grip on the blade.

The pair wrangle over control of the knife, with each trying to gain more leverage until Bond manages to plunge it into Dimitrios' chest, killing him and dumping his dead body on the floor next to a fleet of oblivious tourists.

The quietness of the scene is almost comical, but the violent intensity of the struggle nevertheless makes this one of the most low-key brutal kills in the Craig era. Plus, there's the delicious irony of 007 adding one more corpse to the exhibition, of course.
