12 Unwatchable Horror Movies That Wasted Great Ideas
8. Brightburn
This one hurt, mainly because former Troma director
James Gunn had more than his fair share of heartache when breaking into the
mainstream, and we’re sure he still has plenty of ingenious gritty horror concepts
which haven’t yet made it to the screen—this’s the man behind Slither, after
all.
However, the Guardians of the Galaxy helmer failed to realise chilling potential in his “evil Superman horror movie” Brightburn as the central character had almost no depth, with no arc to speak off and no interesting motivation behind his slide into villainy. Slow, violent, and downbeat, this drab and humourless affair missed the blackly comic potential of its set up by a wide mile.
