12 Unwatchable Horror Movies That Wasted Great Ideas

7. Shrooms

The Reaping
Capitol Films

Coming from Irish helmer Paddy Breathnach, director of the classic cult comedy I Went Down and the equally unfortunate wasted premise Red Mist, Shrooms see a set of tourists and a few locals take the eponymous pscyhotropics whilst camping in a remote area of the Irish wilderness.

What comes next is an ultimately pretty predictable slasher with an uninventive central villain and a diabolically dumb final twist, but the film will mostly leave watchers wondering what a more psychedelic approach to drug-hallucination based horror might have looked like coming from Climax’s Gaspar Noe or a truly out-there cinematic mind like Alejandro Jodorowsky of El Topo and The Holy Mountain fame.
