12 Worst Casting Decisions In Harry Potter Movies
6. Ezra Miller As Credence Barebones
There is no denying that Ezra Miller means big news at the moment, serving as Warner Bros.’ (red and) golden boy as the Flash in the upcoming Justice League films. Eddie Redmayne may have been criticised for his twitchy and awkward Newt Scamander, but the prize ticket for uncomfortable performances in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them goes to Miller himself.
As the bowl-haired Credence Barebone, Miller grinds against the rest of the rather jolly tone of the film. It is understandable that you need some darkness in a Potter film, but Credence is glum even by David Yates' "Dark Potter" standards.
Channelling the performance of Damien from The Omen, Miller uses pretty much every creepy child cliche you can think of. To make matters worse, Credence gets to barely say two words, then with a final act "twist," says even less. Dressed as an undertaker, with pale skin, and a mopey backstory - sorry, Ezra Miller doesn't have a "Flash" of his true acting talent here!
Both Yates and Miller have teased that Where to Find Them may not be the last we see of Barebone, so here's hoping that if Credence does return for the sequels, there is some serious character adjustment.
