12 Worst Movie Spin-Offs Ever Made
1. Son Of The Mask
It took Jim Carrey almost 20 years following Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls to finally do a sequel to another one of his own movies, but that didn't stop others from making them without his involvement in the interim. One thing that Evan Almighty, Dumb and Dumberer and Ace Ventura Jr.: Pet Detective all have in common is that they are terrible, but still pale in comparison to the horror that is Son of the Mask.
For some unexplainable reason, the studio thought it was a good idea to invest $100m into producing a spinoff to The Mask, despite the fact that the original was a decade old by this point and Carrey's lack of involvement had completely removed their main draw from the equation, with the decision that Jamie Kennedy of all people would make for a suitable replacement remaining a real head-scratcher to this day.
Suffice to say, Son of the Mask sucks. Like really, really sucks. A frequent top contender when it comes to listing the worst movies ever made, the whole thing seemed destined for failure from the very second it was announced, and that actually turned out to be the one area where it didn't actually disappoint.
