13 Awful Movies With 1 Awesome Scene
8. That First-Person Scene - Doom
The Awful Movie: Living down to the subterranean expectations of video game movies, Doom sadly failed to capitalise on the promise of putting The Rock in a movie based on the legendary first-person shooter franchise, while also thoroughly wasting Karl Urban and Rosamund Pike in roles they'd probably love to scrub from their filmographies.
Changing basic aspects of the game's plot for no reason and serving up a shockingly bland array of action sequences, Doom's worst crime is that it's actually stunningly dull for the most part.
The Awesome Scene: Reaper (Urban) wakes up and heads on a rampage to rescue his sister Sam (Pike), a five-minute blast-a-thon shot entirely from a first-person perspective.
In a sequence that feels ripped from the video games, with gratuitous violence, outrageous monsters and awesome music, it's easily one of the most stylistically accomplished sequences in any video game movie to date.
Doom fans won't be able to resist the fight between a chainsaw-wielding Reaper and the wheelchair-bound abomination known as Pinky.
