13 Broken Comic Book Movie Franchises (And How To Fix Them)

4. Daredevil

Yes there is a Netflix series coming, and we have a new Matt Murdoch in the shape of Boardwalk Empire and Stardust actor Charlie Cox, but Daredevil is a top drawer Marvel character, and although a well-executed TV series would do him justice, he belongs in the cinema, no matter how many sins were committed in the name of the character in the 2003 adaptation. One approach to making that a reality again would be to continue the franchise as a stand alone story with Daredevil mid-career, which would come with the benefit of removing the need to spend 45-60 minutes retelling his origin. A title like Daredevil: Reborn ties in with the character's history, and if the series is successful there is no reason the Charlie Cox version of the character couldn't make the transition to the big screen. This is no longer the age of Smallville, it is the age of Agents Of Shield where events on the cinema screen are being reflected on television and vice versa. Innovation is the way forward, and taking the characters from this Marvel Netflix approach, and giving them a malleability between the mediums would continue to keep Marvel one step ahead of the curve. If this is the pattern Marvel follow, then the blending of the two universes would likely take place in a major event film, not focussed on a single character. Daredevil will be involved if it happens though, meaning his return to the big screen could become an inevitability, rather than merely a possibility dependent on a smaller scale project.
