13 Broken Comic Book Movie Franchises (And How To Fix Them)
3. Hulk
It is true that the Hulk currently enjoys an important role in a popular, flag-ship franchise, but there is still a need to get the solo Hulk franchise on track and have the "Green Goliath" feature in his own adventures, even though that has resulted in bland, boring film-making in the past. The answer would appear obvious: Marvel need to give Mark Ruffalo his own film, but there is now an opportunity to do even more than that and bring a version of the Hulk to screen that hasn't yet been seen. The most obvious scenario, one which has been suggested and subsequently shot down, is to do an adaptation of Planet Hulk. When looking at how the Hulk story-arc is panning out in the current MCU it is easy to imagine how the narrative could sway towards this scenario: the cosmos is opening up and Shield and The Avengers keeping an eye on Banner has already been thematically seeded. The most exciting possibility of course is how all this could segue into World War Hulk: this is perhaps something that would need to be presented in an Avengers film, with Hulk essentially being the antagonist but it sets up intriguing crossover possibilities. Exploring this epic story in a singular Planet Hulk, and Avengers: World War Hulk films could set up an oppositional viewpoints scenario similar to what Clint Eastwood did with Flags Of Our Fathers and Letters From Iwo Jima, which would surely be one of the most thrilling possibilities Marvel fans could wish for.
As well as the odd article, I apply my "special mind" to scriptwriting for Comics, Films and Games... Oh and I cut down trees, I skip and jump, I like to press wild flow'rs, I put on women's clothing, and hang around in bars.
