13 Outrageously Awful 2015 Performances That Deserve Razzies

11. Emma Watson - Regression

The Role: Watson plays 17-year-old Angela Gray, a young girl who has reportedly been sexually abused by her father, all while Detective Bruce Kenner (Ethan Hawke) investigates. Prior to release, Watson was widely expected to court awards buzz ahead of the Oscars, what with Alejandro Amenábar (The Others, The Sea Inside) writing and directing. Why It's So Awful: For one, Watson just isn't at all convincing as a 17-year-old: she's left Harry Potter behind and so to see her returning to such youthful roles is incredibly ill-advised. It doesn't help that she wears an unflattering sweater throughout most of the film which only makes her look even older. Mis-casting aside, Watson sadly disappoints on her own standing by turning in one of the year's shoddiest American accents, her native British tongue constantly slipping back in and revealing the artifice. It's incredibly distracting in a film that's already massively flimsy, leaving Ethan Hawke and David Thewlis to try and save the pic in vain.
