13 Potentially Terrifying Horror Films Coming Out In 2018

4. Slender Man

Out of all the odd phenomenon you’ll find in the whispering realms of Creepypasta, Slender Man is the MVP: The big, scary bogeyman that among all the haunted videogame cartridges and tainted Mickey Mouse cartoons is the one that is most believable. The tale of a lanky, suited up spirit being with no face became a grim reality in recent years, when a 12-year-old girl was stabbed by her friends, apparently at the behest of Slender Man.

With his celebrity elevated, Hollywood came knocking and this year he makes his debut on the big screen, which makes a nice change from all the iffy ‘real life’ sighting videos that are skulking around YouTube.

The movie centres on a group of teenagers that get entrenched in the Slender Man mythology, resulting in one of them going missing. Director Sylvain White – his only foray into horror was I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer – has cannily held back on unveling the film’s big bad but the footage already seen shows a film drenched in atmosphere, plenty of spooky woods and some jittery jump scares.

Franchise anyone?
