13 Terrible Looking 2018 Movies That Will Shockingly Make A Profit

7. Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider Alicia Vikander
Warner Bros.

Release Date: March 16

Alicia Vikander is undeniably well-cast as Lara Croft, but this latest attempt to sculpt a cinematic empire out of the Tomb Raider video games doesn't seem to suggest anything more than a half-baked, generic action thriller that'll once again struggle to escape the video game movie curse.

Predicted Box Office: $120 million. It's clear from the marketing that this reboot didn't cost anywhere near as much as the Angelina Jolie-starring movies - around the $50-60 million mark feels about right - which will surely help it turn a profit even though it's unlikely to be a huge hit.

Releasing with little hype in a crowded month will hurt it, but the brand name combined with the success of the video game reboot should ensure this one is at least modestly successful. Whether it's enough for Warner Bros. to enthusiastically greenlight a sequel, though, is a whole other matter (probably not).
