14 So-Called ‘Must-See’ Films In 2014 (That Might Actually Be Worth Watching)

2. X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Release Date: 22nd May (UK), 23rd May (US) Why It€™s A Must See: Time-travelling Wolverine brings together the two generations of X-Men. Need I say more? Days Of Future Past: The Comic covered only two issues of The Uncanny X-Men. Days Of Future Past: The Movie looks set to be the biggest X-Men film yet, acting as a culmination of just about everything we've seen so far. The Wolverine of a dystopian future where mutants are hunted down by giant Sentinels (the fan favourites finally make it to the big screen) must mentally travel back to the seventies to convince young Xavier and Magneto to stop an event that started the mutant cull. Bryan Singer, returning to directorial duties after running out on The Last Stand for Superman Returns, has been tweeting production snaps for the past year and while the potential of spoilers is heavy, the glimpses have only served to whet our appetite. Why You Should Be Worried: Putting Logan in the front seat could make this Wolverine (And His Less Cool Friends). Updating the story to have Wolverine, instead of the comic's Kitty Pryde be the time traveller could simply be a logistical one; Logan€™s one of the few heroes who is alive in both timelines. However, it could also be Fox€™s way of ensuring maximum box office exposure €“ as in the comics Wolverine is the film series€™ biggest draw €“ which, from the dire standalone Wolverine films, may not be the best approach. Bottom Line: Hurry up May, patience isn't our strongest suit.
