6. Grand Moff Tarkin's Death Star Plans - Star Wars
Peter Cushing's performance of Grand Moff Tarkin in Episode IV is great. He doesn't even fear Darth Vader and refers to him as his friend. An Imperial officer who is actually friends with Vader instead of fearing the old force-choke retirement? Understandable when he gets his kicks out of destroying entire planets for the fun of it. The man is pure evil. Perhaps the Death Star is supposed to be symbolism for the nuclear bomb and all the fear that surrounds it. Certainly if a Death Star actually existed no one would feel safe ever again. It was created by the Imperials to be the ultimate destructive force of power in the galaxy, the true symbol of their power. The space station is so gigantic that it is completely indestructible by any frontal attack. Unless your a small fighter that flies down a trench in the middle of the Death Star and can plant a couple of dual proton torpedoes down an exhaust shaft. Then the whole thing goes bye-bye. As pointed out numerous times before that seems like a serious flaw in the design. At the battle for the Death Star Tarkin is warned by his fellow Imperial officer that such a danger exists, but he just shrugs the guy off. Last mistake he ever made.
