14 Simple Fixes That Would Have Made Fantastic Four Awesome

8. Ditch All The Modern Cultural References

Sadly, it's a reality of modern filmmaking that writers and directors love to pander to audiences by trying to relate to their lives through agonisingly shoehorned references to social media, mobile phones and so on. You can see it in this summer's Ted 2, what with its constant "hashtag" references, and you can see it here, namely in two painful scenes, where Reed takes a selfie with the Quantum Gate, and secondly where Johnny talks about wishing he had Instagram on Planet Zero. All these things are going to do is make the film look hilariously, embarrassingly dated in another decade (not that anyone will be watching it by then), and there's absolutely no need to include them. Is any youngster really going to enjoy the film more if it has Snapchat and hashtags and someone taking a picture of their dinner and posting it on Instagram? For the sake of humanity's future, let's hope not.
