14 Washed-Up TV Shows In Desperate Need Of Cancellation
9. Supernatural
When Supernatural launched back in 2005, it felt totally fresh and unique: with its likeable brother protagonists, darkly comic tone and excellent array of rock music selections, it was an original spin on the whole supernatural freak-of-the-week sci-fi formula that every similar post-Buffy TV series has shamelessly copied. It was a show with plenty of personality, but after its fifth season brought the show's core plot to a close, Supernatural really should have ended. The CW instead renewed it for a sixth season, and the show has just started its tenth season. Though Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles still bring that fantastic chemistry to the table, the series just feels like it's got nothing original left in its repertoire, and is pretty much just recycling ideas now. Eric Kripke stepped down as showrunner after season five, which given his much-praised "five year plan" for the show, is all the indication needed that the show should have ended there and then. Though the show has been spinning its wheels for years now and desperately needs to give Sam and Dean a decent send-off, it's impressive the show continues to be renewed despite rarely pulling in more than 2.5 million viewers per episode, which for a show this glossy and expensive, is pretty terrible.
