Ryan Reynolds’ public shaming of his critically panned Green Lantern release is well known, surpassing the usual format and creeping into several examples of his work since.
From Wade Wilson begging his captor to not “make the super suit green. Or animated!” in Deadpool to another easter egg in the sequel, where he goes back in time to prevent his real-life self from taking the role.
Green Lantern was bad. We all know that. And Reynolds is a man of the people, who even once told Entertainment Weekly he’d failed to see the final cut of the film, giving some sense as to just how highly he regards it.
Thankfully, the chance to play the Merc With a Mouth arose and arguably the greatest actor/character marriage in comic film history came about for Reynolds.
