15 Actors You Didn't Know Were Almost Cast In Tarantino Movies

14. Daniel Day-Lewis - Vincent Vega (Pulp Fiction)

The Role: The part of Vincent Vega, eventually played by John Travolta in a move that earned him an Oscar nomination and revived his stagnant career, was sought after by numerous high-profile stars in Hollywood, including Bruce Willis, who would of course go on to play Butch Coolidge in the movie. Daniel Day-Lewis also had the script passed to him during the casting stages and was massively interested in the part. What Happened?: Though Day-Lewis was pushed for the part by Harvey Weinstein, Tarantino and his agent Mike Simpson remained steadfast that Travolta was the man for the role, and eventually won out. The rest, as they say, is history. Would It Have Worked?: While there's a firm argument that Day-Lewis is the best actor alive today, he wouldn't have been right for this part at all. Though he's made a career out of entrenching himself in roles like a chameleon, it's difficult to believe he'd be capable of the jocular chemistry with co-stars Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman necessary to make the part work, or at least not as well as Travolta.
