15 Announced Movies That Are Destined For Development Hell

Status: A remake of Stephen King's acclaimed novel (previously adapted into a two-part TV movie in 1990) was first announced in 2009, and though Stephen King has claimed it will start filming "soon", it's still without a cast to speak of.
Why It's Going To Development Hell: The insane ambition of this two-part remake is what will sink it. Most fans rejoiced when True Detective's Cary Fukunaga got the director's chair in 2012, and the casting of Will Poulter as Pennywise was both unconventional and alluring.
However, over creative disagreements, Fukunaga bailed shortly before filming was set to begin, as Warner Bros. reportedly wanted him to make a much more conventional horror film than he intended. Andrés Muschietti (Mama) was then announced as his replacement, but nobody knows if Poulter will still be playing Pennywise (including Poulter himself).
We want to believe the movie will indeed start filming soon, but we wouldn't be surprised if it quietly slid off the 2017 slate and faded into the ether.
