15 Announced Movies That Are Destined For Development Hell

3. Splinter Cell

Status: Much like Uncharted, this one just seems like a slam dunk, and yet, five years after it first announced, we're still without a Splinter Cell movie.

Why It's Going To Development Hell: Because despite Tom Hardy being cast as the iconic Sam Fisher in 2012, and director Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) signing on in 2014, this one has just moved at a snail's pace.

The most recent updates include Liman exiting the movie and Hardy deciding to shoot The Revenant rather than Splinter Cell, so frankly, we have no idea whether the Mad Max star is even still interested in playing the part.

The studio reportedly wants Joseph Kahn (Torque) to replace Liman, but with so many moving parts up in the air, this just reeks of a movie that's going to languish around for years and years, long beyond most fans even having an interest in it actually existing.
