8. Julianne Moore - Maps To The Stars

David Cronenberg's savagely funny satire of the Hollywood sausage factory may not have been to all tastes, but even those who didn't take to the film would struggle to argue that Julianne Moore didn't act her a** off as aging actress Havana Segrand. A role at once glamourous and totally not, Moore completely embodies the typicallly beautiful, glitzy celeb as audiences know them, but then there's also a wildly unflattering scene in which Havana farts while sat on the toilet, and a cringe-inducing threesome sequence that's difficult to forget. Still, the difficult nature of the film is what has likely held Moore back from any serious Oscar buzz, even if she did win the Cannes Film Festival's Best Actress award, which is a pretty sweet consolation prize in of itself.
