Why Watch It?
In the post Walking Dead age, zombie survival stories are all the rage, and The Girl With All The Gifts joins a procession of great British additions to the genre that deserve your attention. There aren't masses of jump scares, but for anyone who loved 28 Days Later, this is another step in a very similar direction that works for precisely the same reasons.
It scores extra points for the introduction of children as the "hungries", but it's mostly enjoyable thanks to its commitment to realism and a more grounded narrative approach that gives its supernatural elements more space for impact. And everyone loves a zombie flick at this time of year.
