An early George Clooney heads an all-star cast in this Vampire Western from scribe Quentin Tarantino (who also stars) and director Robert Rodriguez. Essentially two movies, From Dusk Till Dawn starts out as a buddy dramedy in which two brothers (Clooney and Tarantino, if you can believe that) pull a bankjob andtake a family (inc. Harvey Keitel and Juliette Lewis) hostage in their RV, before then flipping into the pulpy, holed-up gore fest it ends up as once the characters arrive at the Vampire Bar en route to Mexico. An unabashed homage to the B-movies that Tarantino and Rodriguez adore so much, From Dusk Till Dawn never attempts to be anything other than great fun, and that's the beauty of it. With absolutely no pretensions towards being artful - though it does look great and is edited magnificently - the film becomes one of the most downright joyful in the canon, crossing its undoubted horror branches with ones more belonging to that of an all-out action flick.
