15 Best Horror Movies To Watch On Netflix This Halloween
9. A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night
The converse of From Dusk Till Dawn would be something like this, the first full feature from Iranian-American director Ana Lily Amirpour. Billed as "the first Iranian Vampire Western", A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night is a monochrome, expressionist affair that only really touches on the idea of horror (specifically the vampire story), using it as a springboard to launch into what is actually a cryptic, strange, ultimately fatalistic film far more concerned with mood and atmosphere than it is narrative. True, the film is solipsistic and somewhat self-mythologizing, but it's also an aching, melancholy, at times humorous picture, classed by some as a "new vampire classic". Best to watch this one with a fellow film lover on Halloween; any one going into this expecting some classic genre trash is sure to be disappointed.
