15 Best Movie Deaths Of 2016

1. Sausage Party – The Saving Private Ryan Death Montage

Greasy Strangler
Columbia Pictures

It might not be the most memorable scene from Seth Rogen’s supermarket set smut-fest Sausage Party – that honour is reserved for its already infamous food orgy climax – but we have to give props to a hilarious death scene that pays homage to Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan. After a suicidal mustard jar leaps to his death from a trolley, he causes it to tip resulting in his fellow anthropomorphic foodstuff friends spilling out onto the supermarket floor and re-enacting the war epic’s famous Omaha Beach landing scene with impressive accuracy.

A wounded tin of chicken noodle soup tries to scoop up his disembowelled noodle innards, a gravely injured Oreo cookie with one of its wafers blown off bewilderedly picks up his dismembered ‘limb’ and staggers off no doubt to die and a packet of crisps bursts open, its contents shooting forth like deep-fried potato shrapnel taking out a grape, a carton of chocolate milk and a couple of marshmallows in his path. Crazy and slightly disturbing cartoon carnage for sure, but nevertheless one of this year’s most inspired death scenes.
