15 Best Supporting Characters In MCU Movies So Far
11. Trevor Slattery
Iron Man 3's divisive Mandarin twist still generates plenty of debate today, but at least it gave us the gift of Trevor Slattery. The upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings looks to retcon the character entirely by casting Tony Leung as the real Mandarin, paying off Slattery's second and final appearance in forgotten Marvel One-Shot All Hail the King.
Before Iron Man 3 was released, the marketing made the Mandarin's reinvention as the head of a shadowy terrorist organization look to be in good hands with Ben Kingsley, but it would be fair to say that the vast majority of audiences were knocked for six when he turned out to be a jobbing actor with addiction issues looking to make a quick buck.
The twist and subsequent Aldrich Killian reveal see the wheels start to come off the story a little bit, but Kingsley's scenery-chewing performance as the booze-addled and hapless scapegoat marks an unexpectedly hilarious 180 from the foreboding Mandarin we all thought he was.
