15 Biggest MonsterVerse Mistakes (So Far)

6. Godzilla - Aaron Taylor-Johnson's ATROCIOUS Performance

Godzilla 2014
Warner Bros.

The first example of this franchise's human character problem - and still one of the worst - Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is one of the worst Hollywood protagonists in recent memory.

A blank, humourless, emotionless and conflict-free military man with all the charisma of a brick wall, Brody is so excruciatingly dull that every scene with him is uncomfortable to watch. Hell, he doesn't even show much emotion when reunited with his wife (Elizabeth Olsen) at the end.

Speaking of which, Elle Brody is legitimately a far more engaging character than Ford is (admittedly, that was largely down to Olsen's solid work in the role) despite being nothing more than an underwritten love interest, which says it all really.

The character is further dragged down by Aaron Taylor-Johnson's bored and genuinely abysmal performance, which deserved to be nominated for a Razzie.

Johnson is a very good actor who has done very well in other blockbusters - in fact, when playing a similar role of a military man in Christopher Nolan's Tenet, he was one of the few bright spots in that movie. Therefore, one can only ask: what happened?

Regardless, this is definitely the lowest moment of his career so far.
