15 Doctors Crazier Than Hannibal Lecter

6. Dr Moreau - The Island Of Dr Moreau

Hannibal NBC
New Line Cinema

Shunned by rational society, Dr Moreau conducts his genetic experiments on an island in the South Pacific, producing several man-animal hybrids he calls his “children.” He tells a guest: “If, in my tinkering, I have fallen short of the human form by the odd snout, claw, or hoof, it really is of no great import.”

Despite the fact that his “tinkering” has created mutant babies as well as a half-man, half-leopard creature, Moreau behaves like a king, surveying his subjects from his jeep while being chauffeured across the island and having them genuflect before him. His dwarf manservant, however, bags the honours for his most bizarre creation.

In a scene that will leave your jaw on the floor, Moreau’s manservant begins playing a miniature piano - while sitting atop the doc’s full-size Steinway. This is the moment that inspired Mike Myers to create the character Mini-Me for the Austin Powers movies.
