15 Gloriously Hammy Performances In Horror Movies

4. Vincent Price - Theatre Of Blood (1973)

The Movie: Shakespearean actor Edward Lionheart bears a grudge against the theatre reviewers who refused him a Best Actor award, prompting his attempted suicide. Presumed dead, the actor exacts his grizzly, and quite amusing revenge on the critics who denied him his finest hour. The Scenery-Chewing Performance: The late, great Vincent Price was indeed an immense cinematic presence, but he was never one to underplay a role; here, on full throttle, he hams it up magnificently as a disgraced theatre actor out to prove that the sword is mightier than the pen. Theatre Of Blood provides the perfect podium for Price to demonstrate his ability for combining both the horrific and campy melodrama which he was so brilliant at portraying. And while nearly any of the actor's performances could have made this list, Theatre Of Blood is the magnum opus of Price's long career of next level campiness.
