15 Gloriously Hammy Performances In Horror Movies

8. Nicolas Cage - The Wicker Man (2006)

The Movie: A sheriff investigating the disappearance of a young girl from a small island discovers there's a larger mystery to solve among the island's secretive, neo-pagan community. The Scenery-Chewing Performance: Another case of an actor€™s hamminess elevating what is otherwise a terrible film, Nicolas Cage€™s bizarre, shouty performance as the protagonist in Neil LaBute€™s horrific remake of Robin Hardy€™s horror classic is about the only thing keeping this film from evaporating from the public consciousness. Cage drives the crazy up to a level that only he can attain, with a performance so insane that punching a woman in the face while wearing a bear suit isn't the most ridiculous thing about it. In interviews, Cage confessed that his wild turn, including choice zingers like €œNot the bees! AHHHHHHH!€ and €œHow€™d it get burned?!€, was totally conscious on his part, and to his credit, it makes the film all the more entertaining.
