15 Gloriously Hammy Performances In Horror Movies

9. Linnea Quigley - The Return Of The Living Dead (1985)

The Movie: When two bumbling employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to rise again as zombies. The Scenery-Chewing Performance: Linnea Quigley made a career out of playing over-the-top characters who get naked (and murdered), but her most memorable turn was arguably as Trash, a punk babe hanging out in a graveyard as a zombie outbreak is a-brewing. Seemingly embracing the inherent silliness of the film, Quigley seemed to recognize that the worst thing she can be is wooden, so veers more toward the hammy side of things. In one of the most memorable moments of the film, just making conversation, Trash confesses that being eaten alive by old men would be the worst way to die, in her opinion. She imagines the scene: "First, they would tear my clothes off..." and, for the sake of illustration, tears her own clothes off. It's not so funny, though, when the zombie hordes show up and administer just the death she was hoping to avoid.
