15 Greatest Opening Credit Sequences In Movies

When it comes to chilling audiences, David Fincher's Seven is a shoe-in. With a cast led by Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman, it's certainly one of the most popular and widely praised psychological thrillers ever made. The best part of the film is its well known "What's in the box?" twist where John Doe succeeds in destroying Pitt's Detective David Mills, but it should be noted that the dark tone of the film is clear right from the opening credits.

The credit sequence is shot over glitching graphics, weird scratching noises, and a stylised mish-mash of fuzzy words and John Doe cutting off his own fingertips with a razor. All of this is played over a remix of Nine Inch Nail's already disturbing song "Closer", and the whole thing makes for a spine-tingling opening of the highest order.

It should also be noted that it took two days to film and a massive five weeks to edit, which makes sense given the amount of detail and imagery that went into it.
